Jesus “Zeuser” Roman is one of the most admirable, impressive artists I’ve encountered. I first met him in my second home of St. Louis as a talented graphic designer and painter. Since he began his tattoo journey a few years ago, I became one of his first clients, and he has become my go-to tattoo artist. Zeus commissioned me for a tattoo apron - the first apron I had ever made. I enjoyed the process and results so much that I have included it as a regular design service for other artisans. One such artist is Malia “Lia” Roman, his lovely wife, and shop mate at Sign of the Times tattoo parlor whom Jesus commissioned a pink cooking/gardening apron for. When visiting St. Louis for more ink, I noticed Jesus’ first commissioned apron was WELL loved and thus well worn. I set to work creating an updated apron for him with better materials, and thought how wonderful for them to have complementary aprons and photograph them in a space that encompasses a big part of their lives. On a parasocial note, it was an honor, as I am extremely proud of the love that they display for their individual selves, for each other as partners, and for their families and communities. I could think of no better subjects to showcase art, love and culture wrapped in one.
