Artists must evolve and expand. This is an ethos that both Sean of BrllantMnds and I hold dearly in our creative practices. As creatives hailing from the same tight-knit St. Louis art community, I have known Sean for almost a decade and have had the pleasure of seeing his art evolve through painting, graphic design, fashion, creative direction, and more. With my knowledge of small business entrepreneurship and inventory, combined with my passion for sustainability and extending the lifecycle of garments, I thought to ask Sean if he had any garments archived that he would like to purge (he did!). We happened to be in the same creative mindset of having reflected on the past and needing a fresh start to elevate our brands in the future. He dropped off a bag of t-shirts, hoodies, and sweatshirts and I got to work flipping each one with both of our brand aesthetics and values in mind. What resulted was a diverse capsule collection of functional, lively products with a flare of nostalgia for BM fan favorite garments. This vibe is reflected in our zine edits, where we want you to feel the same excitement perusing these pages as you would when you were flipping through back-to-school magazines like Delia’s or Eastbay, circling all the cool things you desired!
